Hege Kverneland to be NOV’s senior vice president and chief technology officer

Bob Bloom, senior vice president and chief technology officer, is retiring after 40 years of dedicated service to National Oilwell Varco.  Pete Miller, chairman, president and CEO, says “Bob has played a tremendous role in the creation of what National Oilwell Varco is today.  His leadership has molded the company and our industry.” 

NOV is pleased to name Hege Kverneland as Bob’s successor upon his retirement on June 25^th.  Hege will assume Bob’s duties as senior vice president and chief technology officer and will report directly to Pete Miller.  She is also relocating from Stavanger, Norway to Houston, Texas in the coming weeks.

Hege received a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Norwegian University of Science and recently graduated General Management Program (GMP) from Harvard Business School.

Hege has 10 years of extensive engineering and product management background, contributing to quality assurance and research and product development.  Hege began with Hitec in 1994, joining National Oilwell through acquisition.   She has authored numerous SPE/IADC papers as well as two textbooks on Offshore Hydraulics.
