Ikon Science and PetroTrace Global have come together to open new markets to seismic processing, rock physics driven inversion, and geopressure technologies.

The collaboration brings together expertise from two technology with experience in upstream oil and gas industry and a wealth of technical experience in reservoirs across the globe. Operations will be led by Nikolai Baransky, general director at PetroTrace, and Steve Hunt, the COO of Ikon Science.

Ikon Science develops and markets RokDoc, the software system used worldwide by oil and gas companies to deliver geologically meaningful reservoir analysis from well and seismic data using rock physics science as the key enabler. The combination of PetroTrace Global’s high quality time and depth processing capabilities with Ikon Science’s reservoir focused rock physics and inversion solutions will provide a  service and software solution, bringing quantitative exploration and development to a new level within the region.

“After recent successful entries to Brazil and Indonesia, we now intend to help open up new frontiers such as the Arctic waters as well as apply integrated rock physics driven reservoir analysis to improve recovery in known hydrocarbon basins such as Western Siberia,” said Ikon Science’s CEO Martyn Millwood Hargrave.

PetroTrace has vast experience in velocity analysis in complex geological settings and this experience combined with Ikon GeoPressure’s proprietary best practice workflows and technology will address the growing demand for accurate pore pressure prediction in Russia, especially in the Yamal region and along the active Artic exploration frontiers.
