RWE Dea started a program of seismic surveys in the Caspian Sea offshore Turkmenistan.

The company is underway with a shoot in Block 23, carrying out a 3D transition zone seismic survey for the first time on the coast of Turkmenistan reaching from onshore out into shallow waters. This will enable it to explore geological structures in the Miocene and Pliocene at depths from 3,000 m (9,842 ft) to 6,500 m (21,325 ft).

The survey comprises the acquisition of 3D data over an area of 400 sq km and a 2D program to assess the further exploration potential of the block.
