Reflect Geophysical Pte Ltd, working under an exclusive contract with ANCAP, has completed a seismic survey in the Uruguayan offshore. The new data add to existing 2-D seismic in the area.
ANCAP will license field and pre-processed seismic data, as well as gravity and magnetic data, to oil companies interested in evaluating the hydrocarbon potential of offshore Uruguay. The new survey comprises 58 regional and infill lines for a total of approximately 6,300 kilometers, in a wide area of the Uruguayan Exclusive Economic Zone. The data covers water depth from 20 to 3,500 meters in depth. The newly acquired seismic and ANCAP’s existing 2-D data provide almost full coverage of the Punta del Este, Pelotas and Oriental del Plata basins.
Processing and interpretation of the raw 2-D seismic data will be considered by ANCAP as work units of the exploratory work program to be committed by the bidders. Special processing activities will also be included as work units of the work program.
The bid round is scheduled to launch on September 7, 2011, in Montevideo. It will include 15 offshore blocks covering most of Uruguay’s continental shelf, under Production-sharing agreements will be on offer.
