Cyprus has given the go-ahead for exploratory drilling for oil and gas offshore in four blocks, according to Ahram Online.

Drilling permits were approved for blocks 2, 3, 9, and 11.

Citing Commerce Minister Neoclis Sylikiotis as its source, the website said the government will negotiate a deal with a partnership of Eni and Kogas for blocks 2 and 3. Terms will be discussed with Total ENP Activities and Novatec for block 9, and Total wants to exploit block 11, according to the article.

The negotiations are expected to be completed next year.
