Drillsearch Energy Ltd. confirmed the beginning of the 281 sq km Kaden 3D seismic acquisition in the Inland-Cook oil fairway in the southern part of ATP 539P, Queensland, Australia. Drillsearch awarded the contract to WesternGeco to conduct the 3D seismic.

In addition, 18 line km of 2D seismic is also being acquired in ATP 539P to define areas for further 3D seismic acquisition. Prior to conducting the survey, the area was subject to work area clearance, performed by local native title claimants from the Mithaka people.

Although exploration in the Inland-Cook oil fairway is in its early stages, a number of large, undrilled structures have been identified from existing 2D seismic and a number of nearby wells contain significant oil shows.

Earlier work undertaken by Drillsearch indicates that there is significant potential for a mature oil source kitchen and migration into the area covered by the 3D seismic. This work was presented in a paper by David Lowry at the 2011 APPEA Conference in Perth, Australia.
