Reaching a depth of 1,916 m (6,286 ft.), drilling of the MacIntyre-2H well was called a success by Baraka Energy and Resources.
The well, completed in the Southern Georgina Basin, Northern Territory, Australia, stayed within the primary target zone for about 1,080 m (3,543 ft.), recording positive hydrocarbon indications along the entire length of the horizontal section.
A multistage open-hole completion string will be placed in the well before the drilling rig moves on to drill PetroFrontier's horizontal well, Owen-3. Following that, a fracture simulation program is expected to be carried out at each of Baldwin-2Hst1, MacIntyre-2H and Owen-3H.
