Schlumberger Awards Scholarships to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists' Outstanding Student Chapters
Schlumberger announced its contribution of two scholarships to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists’ (AAPG) Outstanding Student Chapter Awards.
Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, was the award recipient among United States-based chapters and University of Bucharest in Bucharest, Romania, was honored as the outstanding international chapter. Terry Woods, Rockies & California operations manager for Schlumberger Data & Consulting Services, presented the awards to these two outstanding chapters at Monday night's AAPG student meeting and reception in Denver.
"Schlumberger is committed to working with universities that continue to enhance their petroleum geoscience curriculum," said Woods. "We are honored to be able to support AAPG with its student development programs as these university students and future geoscientists will one day be our leaders in the oil and gas industry."
Awards are presented yearly at the AAPG annual meeting. Student chapter requirements for selection of awards are maintenance of student AAPG memberships, active AAPG faculty sponsor, and participation in Earth Science Week, field trips, meetings and special community events.
This is the twelfth year Schlumberger has sponsored the scholarships for the AAPG Outstanding Student Chapter Awards.
