Production from the Gaupe field in the southern Norwegian North Sea began on March 31, according to BG Group and Lundin Petroleum AB.

The Gaupe field is located in Production License 292 and is adjacent to the Norway-U.K. border, some 225 km from the Norwegian mainland.

The Gaupe field has estimated gross recoverable reserves of approximately 31 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe).  A plateau production rate of 15,000 boe per day is expected to be reached during the third quarter 2012.

The Gaupe field is a cross-border subsea tie-back to the Armada production facilities, located in the U.K. central North Sea.  From Armada, processed gas and liquids are exported via pipelines to the U.K.

The partners in the field are BG Norge, operator with 60%, and Lundin Norway, 40%.
