Offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) continued Tuesday evacuating platforms and rigs in the path of Hurricane Isaac.
About 93% of the current daily oil production in the GoM has been shut-in, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), which is monitoring operators’ activities. The percentage represents about 1.3 MMb/d.
The agency also estimated about 67% of the current daily natural gas production – about 3,002 MMcf/d – in the GoM has been shut-in.
As of about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, personnel had been evacuated from 503 production platforms, or about 84%, of the 596 manned platforms in the GoM. Personnel have been evacuated from 49 rigs, or about 64% of the 76 rigs operating in the GoM.
