Malaysia-based floating production specialist Bumi Armada Berhad has had a contract for its FPSO Armada Perkasa extended for one year by African-focused independent Afren Energy Resources.
The latter company exercised the first of five, 1-year extensions from the original contract for the FPSO, effective July 1, 2013. The contract extension for the floating production vessel, which has been operating offshore Nigeria on the Okoro-Setu field, is estimated at approximately RM 100 million (US $33 million) in total.
Hassan Basma, executive director and CEO of Bumi Armada, said, “Our Armada Perkasa has been operating for Afren since 2008 with 99.8% uptime and it achieved its 1,000 days without LTIs (lost-time incidents) in July this year. This contract extension underscores our international expansion and consolidation in our strategic markets of Africa, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea.”
