Murphy E&P has awarded Aker Solutions a contract to supply two production control umbilicals and three umbilical termination assemblies (UTAs) for its deepwater Dalmatian field in the Gulf of Mexico.
The main control and injection umbilical for the field in the De Soto Canyon area, operated by Murphy with its partner being Ecopetrol America, will tie the host facility to Murphy’s De Soto Canyon Block 4 well over a distance of 34 km (21 miles). The second umbilical is an infield umbilical connecting two blocks 8 km (5 miles) apart. No contract value has been disclosed.
The umbilicals will be installed in a water depth of approximately 1,800 m (6,000 ft). Installation is planned for the 4Q 2013.
Engineering, project management, and manufacturing of the umbilicals will take place at its umbilicals facility in Mobile, Ala. Engineering for the subsea UTAs will take place at its Houston office, while manufacturing will take place in Mobile.
Aker is already supplying Murphy with subsea equipment for the operator’s deepwater Siakap North-Petai subsea project offshore Sabah, Malaysia.
