ERHC Energy Inc. announced the appointment of Gertjan van Mechelen as exploration manager. Van Mechelen will oversee exploration activities in the company's growing portfolio of onshore and offshore assets in Africa.

Van Mechelen brings more than 35 years of experience in oil and gas exploration. He worked previously in Africa, Southeast Asia, China, Europe, and North America with ConocoPhillips and TransAtlantic Petroleum.

Van Mechelen earned a master's degree in structural geology and exploration geophysics from Rijks University Utrecht.
