Gasol confirmed that Cornelia Meyer has been appointed as chairman of the company to lead the next stage in its development.

Meyer, whose appointment takes effect on August 1, brings sector-specific and international experience to Gasol, having held senior roles with Kimberly Clark Corp., BP plc, the General Electric Corp. and Citibank.

Haresh Kanabar, who co-founded Gasol and served as its chairman since 2009, will become a non-executive director.

Separately, Osman Shahenshah will also step down as a non-executive director of the company with immediate effect.

Commenting on Meyer's appointment, Kanabar, said, “Our strategy of developing gas reserves in the Gulf of Guinea and supplying this gas to power projects in West Africa is reaching a pivotal stage. Meyer's significant expertise in development economics, finance and geopolitics in the energy sector will prove invaluable during the future growth of the company.”
