Subsea U.K. launched its annual scholarship initiative, which is aimed at boosting the number of highly-skilled subsea engineers in the industry.
The scholarship program, which enables successful candidates to study towards a post-graduate master of science degree in subsea engineering, was introduced last year by Subsea U.K. and has a number of students currently on the program.
“It is vital that we invest in tomorrow’s talent for the future of our sector,” said Subsea U.K.’s chief executive, Neil Gordon. “Our vision for the scholarship program is to attract and develop new entrants, from graduates to mature engineers, who will then go on to drive forward the next generation of subsea services and technology.
Potential candidates for this year’s scholarships need to apply by July 25, and will be graduate engineers, normally living in the U.K., who are employed and supported by a Subsea U.K. member company.
The Subsea U.K. scholarship, accrued through subscriptions and various initiatives and services, will cover up to 80% of the total annual cost up to a maximum of $11,535 for a full-time course and $5,382 for a part-time one. As well as fees, the costs covered will include course material, books, travel, subsistence and accommodation where appropriate.
