Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) director James Watson named Margaret Schneider, a former Environmental Protection Agency official, as deputy director of the department.  She will replace Bob LaBelle, who had served as acting deputy director at the department.

Schneider previously served as the senior adviser at BSEE.  She spent 30 years at the EPA, where she focused on water and enforcement issues, among other things.

LaBelle will become BSEE’s science adviser.
