On Dec. 1, Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) appointed Clay Neff as president of Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production. Neff succeeds Ali Moshiri, who is retiring, effective April 1, 2017.
Neff’s appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2017, the San Ramon, Calif.-based company said. Moshiri is retiring per the company's mandatory retirement policy.
Neff currently is the managing director of the Nigeria Mid-Africa business unit, handling upstream operations in Nigeria and West Africa.
As president of Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production, Neff will oversee E&P in 15 countries across Africa and Latin America. He will report to Jay Johnson, the executive vice president for upstream.
Neff earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1984 and joined Chevron as a drilling engineer in 1985. At Chevron, he has worked in engineering, operations, commercial and management positions across the U.S., Angola and Nigeria.
Neff is the chairman of the board of trustees for the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta, chairman of the oil producers’ trade section of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
At Chevron, Moshiri has been manager of petroleum and facilities engineering, general manager of strategic planning and assets evaluation for Chevron Overseas Petroleum, general manager and advisor to the vice chairman of the board of Chevron Corp. Exploration and Production, and managing director of Chevron Latin America Exploration and Production Co.
