The Enping 24-2 oil field has commenced production, CNOOC Ltd. said in a press release.
Enping 24-2 is located in the Pearl River Mouth Basin of the South China Sea with an average water depth of 86 m to 96 m (282 ft to 315 ft). The main production facilities include one drilling and production platform, one FPSO unit and 17 producing wells. Currently there are two wells producing about 8,000 bbl/d of crude oil, and the project is expected to reach its peak production of about 40,000 bbl/d in 2017.
Enping 24-2 is an independent oil field in which CNOOC holds 100% interest and acts as the operator.
