Cobalt International Energy Inc. (NYSE: CIE) has named David D. Powell as CFO and executive vice president. He replaces Shannon E. Young III, effective July 8.
Powell previously served as CFO for BHP Billiton–Petroleum, where from March 2009 until May 2016, he was accountable for finance, accounting, commercial assurance, supply chain and information technology activities.
With more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Powell has held numerous leadership roles with increasing responsibilities in the U.S., Argentina, Russia, Malaysia and Qatar.
