From Houston (BN): Chevron’s BIG FOOT (SEN 32/1) extended tlp has moved to its installation location in Walker Ridge 29 in 1,600m about 360km south of New Orleans.

‘The platform is ready to be anchored to the ocean floor once we have a favorable current and weather conditions,’ a spokesman told SEN by email.

‘The offshore hook-up and commissioning work has commenced, and will continue after the platform is anchored to the ocean floor, followed by the development well drilling and completions campaign.’

The platform sailed from Kiewit’s Ingleside, Texas, yard in mid-March but was ‘parked’ north of the installation site for two months waiting for loop currents to ease. Loop currents hive off the Gulf Stream, spin into the northern Gulf and can be troublesome for offshore installations.

Big Foot originally was scheduled to sail out last fall, but Chevron delayed, citing loop currents.

Prosafe and BG Group have agreed to re-phase the work programme for the Safe Bristolia flotel which sustained damage to its lifeboats after experiencing bad weather during work at the UK North Sea EVEREST (31/07) field in October 2014.

Prosafe said that as a result, the total value of the contract has been reduced to approximately US $40mn from $68mn.

Operations were suspended on Everest in October last year and the vessel was brought to the Hanøytangen shipyard in Norway for repair work.

The Safe Bristolia will now have a shorter 2015 work programme with the addition of a new 2016 scope. Operations at BG Group’s Everest platform are scheduled to commence in June 2015 for a firm period of four months.

From mid-May 2016, the Safe Bristolia will return to the Everest platform for two months. Prosafe has also granted BG two additional 15-day options.

Jee has won a FEED contract for a jacket rigid polymer injection riser package from Amec Foster Wheeler. The package includes J-tubes, and is part of an eor field development project on the UK North Sea CAPTAIN (31/19) field.

The project will demonstrate polymer chemical injection technology’s role in maximising economic recovery of UK hydrocarbon reserves. It is a new technique, the company added.

A new bridge-linked platform will store, mix and pump polymer. Amec will design the platform, which will tie into existing facilities. This year, Jee’s engineers will conduct the FEED as the first part of the project.

Jonathan McGregor, head of engineering at Jee, said the changing downhole environment is a challenge when injecting chemical agents into reservoir fluids.

The project will use 4-D seismic imaging, horizontal drilling and pump technology, all ground-breaking technologies, Jee said.

Development drilling is expected to take place from 2015 until 2020.

Total has hit a significant milestone of producing a cumulative 2bn bbl from its operated BLOCK 17 offshore Angola.

With the recent start-up of CLOV, Block 17 has become Total’s most prolific site with production of over 700,000b/d.

The company operates four FPSOs on the major production zones of the block: Girassol, Dalia, Pazflor and CLOV.

Anadarko Petroleum has picked a consortium of CB&I, Chiyoda Corporation and Saipem (CCS JV) for the initial development of an onshore LNG park in MOZAMBIQUE.

The scope of the work includes two LNG trains, each with capacity of 6mt/a, which is an increase of 1mt/a over the original plan. The scope also includes two LNG storage tanks, each with capacity of 180,000 cubic meters, condensate storage, multi-berth marine jetty and associated utilities and infrastructure.

The selection of CCS JV is subject to negotiation and entry into a definitive agreement prior to taking FID.

Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a pre-FEED contract by the Government of Timor-Leste for the proposed BEACO LNG plant.

Its scope for the $3.8m pre-FEED contract includes concept selection studies, development of technical design, development of procurement and construction strategies, project implementation plans, capital cost estimate and schedule for the overall project.

The work will be done in close consultation with national oil company TIMOR GAP.

McDermott International has scooped a large brownfield epci contract from Saudi Aramco for 12 jackets for offshore oil and gas fields in SAUDI ARABIAN waters.

Work is scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2016. In March 2015, the client awarded McDermott a brownfield contract for a power supply system replacement that utilises McDermott’s full epci expertise.

Engineering and procurement is expected to be performed by McDermott’s teams in Dubai, UAE, and Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

The jackets are scheduled for fabrication by McDermott’s Dubai yard. Vessels from the McDermott global fleet are scheduled to undertake the installation work.

DEEPOCEAN has been awarded a four-year IMR contract by GDF Suez covering all ROV based IMR work for on the Gjøa field and the associated subsea assets. DeepOcean will use vessels from its North Sea based fleet for work under this contract.

One of the largest orders for chemical injection flowmeters from UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter is on its way to Australia.

A shipment of 45 positive displacement flowmeters is heading to the ICHTHYS liquid natural gas field off Western Australia via Litre Meter's South Korean distributors S-TEK.

DEA has farmed down part of its stake in the WEST NILE DELTA (31/19) project in Egypt to its JV partner and operator BP.

The deal includes the sale of a portion of DEA’s stake in the ongoing Phase 1 development of 5tcf of gas. DEA will retain a 17.25% in both concessions, North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater in WND, which will remain the largest project in the company’s portfolio.

The $12bn WND project, which is planned to start production in 2017, is expected to produce 1.2bcf/d of gas, or about 25% of Egypt’s current gas production.

The timing of the farm down coincides with the ramping up of the capital intensive phase of the WND project development.

A major project milestone has recently been achieved when the development drilling campaign started with the spudding of the first development well in the Taurus/Libra field. This is the first of a total of 21 planned development wells in the Taurus, Libra, Giza, Fayoum and Raven fields.

One of the sponsors of VIPER SUBSEA’S JIP to develop the company’s V-IR Subsea Integrity Monitoring System, has committed to deploy V-LIM line insulation monitor units into a number of North Sea fields.

V-LIM will be deployed by the partner in June. The Joint Industry Project began in October 2013 and has attracted BP, Chevron, Shell, and Total as key partners sponsoring the development of the V-IR technology. The system is expected to be ready for field trials later in 2015.

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a call-off order for delivery of the Safety and Automation System (SAS), Life Cycle Simulator and SAS Information Management System for the four platforms on the JOHAN SVERDRUP (32/4) field centre.

Kongsberg Maritime will also support installation and commissioning of the delivered systems.

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has charged Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC) with four offences relating to the spilling of crude oil from the offshore loading system of the HIBERNIA platform off Newfoundland, Canada.

C-NLOPB conservation officers allege that HMDC caused or permitted crude oil to be spilled into the offshore area, failed to take all reasonable measures to prevent a further spill, and restarted work that had been suspended because of a spill while that spill was ongoing.
