DOF Subsea received a contract from Ithaca Energy for Phase 1 of the decommissioning of the Ithaca-operated Athena Field in the U.K. North Sea.

Athena is on the U.K. Continental Shelf Block 14/18B in the central North Sea’s Outer Moray Firth area in 130 cm of water.

Ithaca stopped production from the field in January, and its FPSO left the field in February.

The contract’s scope of work includes removing the subsea water column infrastructure that has been used on the field, according to an Oct. 5 press release.

Under the contract, mid-water arch and risers will be removed, and several DOF subsea vessels operating in the Atlantic region during fourth-quarter 2016 will be utilized. Vessels from DOF Subsea’s state-of-the-art fleet will also be used.
