Drilling and appraisal of Kaikias, the longest well ever drilled by Shell at a measured depth of 34,500 ft, were completed ahead of schedule and under budget allowing the company to achieve more than 20% in cost savings, Shell said in a news release.

The PRL 15 joint venture intends to begin drilling Antelope-6 in December as part of the appraisal program to define the resource for the Papua LNG project, InterOil said in a news release.
Petrobras said the new well (3-BRSA-1317-RNS), known informally as Pitu North 1, is the first extension well drilled as part of the Pitu Discovery Evaluation Plan and is located 60 km off the Rio Grande do Norte state coast at a water depth of 1,844 m and with a final well depth of 4,200 m.
Appraisal drilling began in June 2015 and recently found 211 m (694 ft) of net oil pay. Complete appraisal of the field will require further delineation wells and technical studies, the release said.
The first zone tested, the High Cliff Sandstone, flowed gas at a rate of 24.7 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), while AWE said Oct. 27 that the second zone, the shallower Kingia Formation, had flowed gas at an average rate and pressure of 25.7 mmscf/d.
The discovery well Caofeidian 6-4-1 was drilled and completed at a depth of about 3,100 m (10,171 ft) and encountered oil pay zones with a total thickness of about 180 m (591 ft), CNOOC Ltd. said in a news release.
The company said its Boqueron prospect in Paraguay’s Hernandarias Block could hold unrisked recoverable gas resources of an estimated 559 billion cubic feet plus 302 million barrels of oil and 17 MMbbl of condensate.
The Jiaoshiba block of the project, in the municipality of Chongqing in southwest China, has 273.8 billion cubic meter (Bcm) of newly proven reserves, said the report carried on news.cnpc.com.cn, an industry portal run by top energy group CNPC.
The first zone being flow tested is the deeper High Cliff Sandstone, where a 23.5m interval has been perforated.
Gas flowed from the well at a rate of 4.32 MMcf/d on a 16/64-in. choke from a 41.3 meter interval in the Rotliegend sandstone, FX Energy said in a news release.
Petrobras operates the area with a 66% stake. Galp Energia owns 14%. Barra Energia do Brasil Petróleo e Gás and Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção both own 10%, Reuters said.
