The Wassana oil field has started producing oil from the first development well 15 months after KrisEnergy took over operatorship of G10/48, the company said in a news release.

Production, which started Aug. 15, is expected to reach a peak rate of about 10,000 barrels of oil per day by year-end. The field is located in the G10/48 concession in the Gulf of Thailand.

“Work is now underway to bring another five wells on stream and to optimize production in this initial wave of drilling,” Chris Gibson-Robinson, E&P director for KrisEnergy, said in the release. “This field is the first of a series of KrisEnergy-operated developments we are working on in Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia.”

Up to 15 development wells, 14 producer wells and one water disposal well are planned, the release said. The Wassana infrastructure includes a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU), the MOPU Ingenium, a mooring buoy and the Rubicon Vantage floating storage offloading vessel, the release said.

The G10/48 contract area covers 4,696 sq km over the Southern Pattani Basin in water depths of upto 60 m.

KrisEnergy holds an effective 89% working interest in G10/48 and Palang Sophon Offshore holds an effective 11% working interest.
