Mubadala Sticks With Petrofac For FPSO Services
Petrofac and Mubadala Petroleum have signed a new “life of field” agreement for operations and maintenance services relating to the FPF-003 FPSO vessel in the Jasmine/Ban Yen Field in the Gulf of Thailand.
As part of the agreement, which could run until 2023, Mubadala Petroleum has tapped Petrofac to deliver a scope designed to lower operating costs at the field and shed light on operational efficiencies.
In addition, an extension to the associated charter lease for the vessel’s bareboat charter has been signed between Mubadala and PetroFirst Infrastructure Ltd., according to a news release.
“The new arrangements will support the ongoing commerciality of the field as well as providing important continuity in this mature operation,” Mubadala Petroleum CEO Musabbeh Al Kaabi said in a statement. “Jasmine has been a remarkable success story, having produced over 60 million barrels, several times more than original estimates of recoverable reserves. We believe there is more to come, but it is a complex set of reservoirs and a mature asset so a competitive and flexible approach to operations is vital.”
FPSO Armada Olombendo Nears Delivery To Bumi Armada
One of the world’s largest FPSO units, Armada Olombendo, is on track to be delivered to Bumi Armada Berhad to be deployed offshore Angola.
Keppel Shipyard, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, converted the former very large crude carrier, which measures 382 m (1,253 ft) in length and 58 m (190 ft) in width. The vessel will be able to handle crude oil production capacity of 80,000 bbl/d, 120,000 bbl/d of water injection and 120 MMscf of gas handling as well as store up to 1.7 MMbbl.
“With the current low oil price environment, it is a testament to Bumi Armada’s strong operational excellence that their FPSO [units] continue to receive good charters,” Michael Chia, Keppel’s managing director for marine and technology, said in a statement.
The Armada Olombendo project included refurbishment and life-extension works, upgrading of living quarters to accommodate 100 workers, fabrication and installation of an external turret mooring system as well as the fabrication, installation and integration of topside process modules.
“Armada Olombendo FPSO [unit] is one of Bumi Armada’s great achievements as this is the largest FPSO project undertaken by the company and incorporates both the highest oil production capacity to date and one of the largest external turrets used offshore,” Bumi Armada CEO Leon Harland said in a statement. “This is a testament to the capabilities and dedication of our employees, our partners and our contractors.”
