Front Range Resources Ltd. reported a Montney discovery at West Pepper, Alberta, Canada, on Jan. 11, noting that the West Pepper Upper Montney well represents the southernmost horizontal Montney discovery drilled to date, and validates the presence of a Southern Montney Trend.
The 03-26-52-23W5 exploration well was completed and flow tested with a 1,930 m horizontal leg in the Upper Montney.
No NGL were recovered during testing, and the well is now shut in, the company said, noting it has completed survey and application for permits covering two separate pipeline options.
Front Range said the drilling of the 6-28-52-22W5 horizontal development well at East Pepper is ongoing. The well is targeting the Basal Montney interval.
Front Range said that, based on pressures and reservoir gas compositions, the Upper and Basal Montney are separate hydrocarbon systems.
Front Range Resources Ltd. is based in Calgary, Alberta.
