Azonto Petroleum is in talks with the Ghanaian National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC)over a further extension to an exploration period for the Accra block where the existing licence is due to expire this month.

Azonto’s current licence for the Accra block is due to expire on 23 September and after opening a data room in June in a bid to attract new partners to support progress into a new exploration term, the company says it has received a high level of interest.

Several companies have shown interest in the data which Azonto has made available, with the company now in talks with the GNPC about a further exploration period extension.
