HOUSTON -- Hart Energy announced it has acquired Deepwater International, a digital newsletter covering global deepwater and frontier operations. In addition, Mark Thomas, now international editor for E&P magazine, has been promoted to senior offshore editor. Thomas will be responsible for enhancing Hart Energy's offshore editorial content.
"The Deepwater International acquisition demonstrates Hart Energy's commitment to further expanding its offshore market coverage," said Kevin Higgins, president and chief operating officer. "This is a key step in our long-term strategy to strengthen our offshore portfolio. Our broader plans include organic developments as well as other possible acquisitions in the offshore space.
"We intend to be just as dominant in offshore oil and gas information as we are in providing news, data and analysis for upstream financing and unconventional resources," Higgins said.
"Hart Energy is delighted to welcome Mark to a full-time position as senior offshore editor for E&P," said Peggy Williams, editorial director. "We have had a long and fruitful association with Mark. His thorough knowledge of offshore operations, deep experience in the international arena, and broad industry network will greatly enhance and elevate our efforts to deliver the finest products to our customers."
Thomas rejoined Hart Energy and E&P in a part-time capacity last year, having worked for the magazine in the '90s as launch editor, as well as editor of Hart Energy's Euroil magazine. He previously ran his own company, Thomas Energy Publishing Ltd., as editor and publisher (2005 to 2012) and served as editor and director at Ogilvie Publishing Ltd. (2000 to 2005). Thomas earned his National Senior Journalist degree in the UK at Harlow College, London, and he holds memberships in many trade and professional organizations, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers and UK Energy Institute.
For 30-plus years, Hart Energy has been a leader covering energy news and technology for investors and executives. The Houston-based company produces magazines (Oil and Gas Investor, E&P, Midstream Business, and FUEL), online information services (A-Dcenter.com, OilandGasInvestor.com, and UGcenter.com), and industry newsletters, and provides upstream energy research and downstream consulting services. Hart Energy boasts exceptional strength in unconventional resources, e.g., its Developing Unconventionals (DUG™) conference series, its Global Shale Gas and Global Shale Oil studies, and more.
