Jumbo signed a contract with Technip Oceania for the installation of 13 subsea structures for the Chevron Wheatstone Project. The subsea structures comprise pipeline termination structures, subsea isolation valve structures, tee protection structures and drill center manifolds, according to a press release from Jumbo.

The manifolds will be installed at a maximum water depth of 240 m (787 ft) and weigh up to 564 tonnes. Installation will be done by Jumbo’s Fairplayer, a DP2 heavy-lift vessel with two 900-tonne revolving deepwater cranes. Fairplayer is anticipated to commence its activities offshore Western Australia in April or May 2015.

After a full summer season operating in the North Sea and the Mediterranean, this project enables Jumbo to continue its offshore activities in the Southern Hemisphere, the company said.

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Field Development is located in Western Australia and situated 120 km (75 miles) north of Onslow. The water depth at site ranges from 73 m to 240 m (239.5 ft to 787 ft). Wheatstone will be developed using a subsea gas gathering system that is tied back to the recently installed Wheatstone Platform, according to the release. Gas will be exported from the platform to the onshore LNG facility through a dedicated trunk line. First gas production/LNG startup is expected in 2015.
