KBR Inc. received a near-shore FEED contract to provide topsides and hull engineering design for a Eurasia FLNG project from Lloyds Energy Ltd., the company said June 1. Work has begun and is expected to be completed in first-quarter 2016, the company added.
KBR already has a FEED contract with Lloyds for the Coral South FLNG project in Mozambique, Jan Egil Braendeland, president of engineering and construction for Europe, Asia and Africa, said.
The Eurasia FLNG plant can handle 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per year. Startup is scheduled for 2019.
The FLNG barges will house all processing facilities, utilities and power generation. The barges will moor at a new single jetty about 3.5km long. LNG will be stored in the hulls and will be loaded through a separate carrier berth at the end of the jetty.
The contract value was not disclosed. Expected revenue from the contract will be included in KBR's second-quarter 2015 backlog of unfilled orders for its engineering and construction businesses.
"Because of KBR's strong position within the LNG market, the company can satisfy the needs of our LNG customers, regardless of the phase of the project. KBR designs and manages projects, from concept through to construction and commissioning. This expertise underpins why KBR is responsible for one third of the world's operating LNG capacity, across a range of locations in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Australia," said Stuart Bradie, president and CEO.
KBR Inc. is based in Houston.
Lloyd’s Energy Ltd. is based in the U.K.
