Ensco Plc appointed Michael McGuinty as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective Feb. 1, the company said. McGuinty succeeds Ron Potter, associate general counsel, who has been serving as interim general counsel.
McGuinty will be based at the company’s London headquarters. Most recently, he was general counsel and secretary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Co., and previously was Schlumberger Ltd.’s deputy general counsel and director of compliance.
He has handled in-house and private practice for energy services across multiple regions. While at Schlumberger, McGuinty was director of legal operations.
McGuinty has bachelor of laws and bachelor of civil law degrees from McGill University in Montreal and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada.
His bar admissions include the Law Society of Ontario, Barreau du Quebec and Law Society of England and Wales.
