Ophir and its joint venture partners, BG Tanzania (Shell) and Pavilion Energy, completed drilling the Kitatange-1 well in Block 1 and Bunju-1 well in Block 4 offshore Tanzania, not finding any hydrocarbons, a Dec. 29 press release said.
A good-quality reservoir was found in both wells, according to the operator, Royal Dutch Shell Plc (NYSE: RDS.A), in the press release.
The wells were drilled on-time by the Noble Globetrotter 2 rig, which has been demobilized.
The two wells fulfil the final exploration commitments of exploration licenses issued by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals .
Subsequent to the completion of drilling Kitatange-1, a bridging license was awarded for the existing discovery locations in Block 1.
