The first environmentally sustainable resin-coated sand product to service the frac sand industry has been introduced, according to Preferred Sands.
“We don’t use phenolics during the finishing process for our resin-coated sands, which prevents leaching of any harmful chemicals or compounds,” said Preferred Sands’ chief executive officer and founder, Michael O’Neill.
The environmental benefits of the resin-coated products are fourfold, according to Preferred Sands. The products do not leach any chemicals, do not create dust, have no volatile organic compounds and are manufactured at lower process temperatures.
