Apache Sticks With Wood Group for Subsea Engineering Services
Apache Corp. has extended its master service agreement contract with Apache Corp. in the North Sea. The move, which includes two one-year extension options, enables Wood Group to continue delivering subsea engineering and consultancy services for routine operation and maintenance work along with detailed engineering work for future subsea developments, according to a news release.
Wood Group has held this service agreement since 2012, playing roles in North Sea projects including the Forties Subsea Isolation Valves (SSIV) project, Aviat development and the Ness Nevis development, the company said.
Repsol Sinopec Dishes Out Service Contracts
Displaying its long-term commitment to the North Sea, Repsol Sinopec Resources UK Ltd. has revealed new contracting strategies and doled out several contracts for maintenance and construction, engineering support and fabric maintenance services.
The contracts are for the company’s offshore operated assets and the terminal at Flotta.
The move comes after the joint venture switched to an asset-focused organizational structure in 2015 in an effort to improve HSE performance, lower costs and grow production, Repsol Sinopec said in a news release.
“Now is the right time to make a fundamental change to the way we manage our major service contracts. These awards will drive greater innovation and competition in the supply chain and improve accountability within our own business,” said Bill Dunnett, managing director of Repsol Sinopec Resources UK. “We’re also looking to the new contractors to help in the development, training and competency assurance of our teams.”
At least two providers were awarded contracts in each category. The company awarded Amec Foster Wheeler and Petrofac new labor supply contracts, which replaced the previous maintenance services model.
As detailed in a news release, companies receiving engineering services support contracts for brownfield modifications and repair orders were:
- Tier 1 (major integrated contractors): Amec Foster Wheeler, Petrofac and Wood Group PSN;
- Tier 2 (detailed design; construction and FEED capability): PD&MS Group, Apollo Offshore Engineering and Step Change Engineering and
- Tier 3 (fabrication-focused): Caledonian Petroleum Services and Ross-shire Engineering
Stork and Bilfinger Salamis won fabric maintenance contracts.
“Performance of our new contracts is a fundamental element of our ongoing transformation to an effective and sustainable operation—even in the current challenging market,” Dunnett said. “This is a great opportunity for the local supply chain that will help us deliver long-term value to our shareholders, partners and employees.”
