Prosafe has signed a contract with Petrobras Netherlands B.V. for the provision of the Safe Eurus semisubmersible vessel for safety and maintenance support offshore Brazil, Prosafe said in a news release.
The company said the $164 million contract, which begins in first-quarter 2017 with a firm period commitment of three years, will be the first for the Safe Eurus, a vessel designed and built to service the Brazilian market. Safe Eurus will be the second Prosafe vessel under charter to Petrobras.
A dynamically-positioned, harsh environment semisubmersible safety and maintenance support vessel, Safe Eurus can accommodate up to 500 people, the release said. In addition with a large open deck area and telescopic gangway, the vessel will provide Petrobras with 300-ton lift capability.
