Royal IHC and Tompkins UK are now in the oil and gas industry’s deepwater, ultradeepwater and geotechnical markets as TI Geosciences, the companies said Feb. 17.

Supported by an initial investment of 17 million euros, TI Geosciences will be based in Darlington, U.K., with operating bases in Teeside, Singapore and Saldahna Bay, South Africa.

TI Geosciences will provide cone penetration test/gravity coring services based on Tompkins’ deepwater CPT system, and remote seabed drilling services are also scheduled for 2015’s fourth quarter, the companies said.

IHC’s sonic wireline operated remote drill (sword) systems will stay in IHC’s research and development program.

Tompkins UK is the parent company of Modus Seabed Intervention.
