Siberian explorer Ruspetro has completed its first test in a multistage fractured horizontal well in one of its license areas.
Three fractures were placed in a 600 m (1,968 ft) horizontal section of well number 214 in its Pottymsko-Inginsky license area in Western Siberia, and the well produced up to 1,350 bbl/d of oil over a 10-day flow testing program, with a 50% water cut rate, the company said in a stock exchange notice.
A second well is due to be drilled and completed by September, Ruspetro said. This well will use a completion system designed and implemented by NCS Energy Services for the first time in Russia, which allows a larger number of fractures to be placed along a horizontal wellbore than that possible with existing completion technology available in the country.
