Emerson Releases Digital Downhole Data Logger

Emerson Automation Solutions has released a data logger and digital transmitter that provides temperature and pressure measurements in a small, rugged form factor, the company said.

Called the Paine 328-12-0010, the logger and transmitter is an alternative to tools that are mounted above the drillbit or periodically inserted into the drill hole for measurements in HP/HT environments with corrosive drilling fluids and high vibration.

“The transmitter measures pressure and temperature with full-scale accuracy of ±0.05% and is able to withstand operating temperatures from -40 F (-40 C) to 347 F (175 C),” Emerson said in a news release. “The slim-diameter form factor of 0.51 in. saves critical downhole tool space.”

Data can be transmitted for analysis via a digital data link and automatically stored for future analysis.

Air-mobile Capping Stack For Subsea Market Debuts

Boots & Coots Services, a Halliburton business, has developed the Global Rapid Intervention Package (GRIP), a suite of services designed to help reduce costs and deployment time in the event of subsea well control events, a press release stated.

GRIP provides well planning and well kill capabilities facilitated by the company’s global logistics infrastructure and existing product service lines. This includes an inventory of well test packages, coiled tubing units and relief well ranging tools. In addition, GRIP features the new high-temperature 15,000-psi RapidCap air-mobile capping stack.

Sourced from Trendsetter Engineering Inc., RapidCap incorporates a specially designed gate valve-based system, making it significantly lighter, less expensive and more mobile than options currently on the market, according to the company.

Enviro Voraxial Sells Separator Technology To Schlumberger

Florida-based Enviro Voraxial Technology Inc. (EVTN) has agreed to sell intellectual property, including patents and trademarks, for its Voraxial Separator technology to Schlumberger, according to a news release.

The technology is described by EVTN as a cost effective method to efficiently separate large volumes of solids and liquids—such as oil, water and sand—with different specific gravities without the need of a pressure drop.

As part of the deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions, EVTN will be granted a royalty-free license to use the patents to market, manufacture and sell the Voraxial Separator for all industries, excluding the oil and gas market. But EVTN will be able to manufacture the Voraxial Separator for Schlumberger for a three-year period, the release said.

“This agreement provides EVTN with a path to manufacture and sell the Voraxial into the oil and gas market through Schlumberger and to potentially leverage this success into additional growth opportunities in other industries where the Voraxial can have significant benefits in treating and cleaning wastewater, such as mining, sewage and industrial wastewater,” EVTN CEO John A. DiBella said in the release.

The agreement is expected to be completed within the next three months, according to EVTN.

Aquatec Gears Up To Launch Advanced Turbidity Logger

Aquatec Group said it will release its AQUAlogger 310TY advanced turbidity logger during the Ocean Business 2017 conference in Southhampton, U.K., which starts April 4.

Designed for use in freshwater and ocean environments with shallow-water and deepwater models, Aquatic said the logger features a tool that uses in situ samples to convert turbidity to suspended sediment concentration.

As detailed in a news release, other features include real-time reporting capabilities, subsea data access, optimal temperature and pressure sensors, a quick-start function and a “shake-to-show” feature that shows the logger’s current status by shaking the logger twice. The company said the logger, which uses standard, replaceable batteries, has a basic mode for sampling regimes such as burst sampling and an advanced mode for more complex tasks such as triggered logging, variable sample rates, intermittent logging and sample averaging.

Subsea Cable Tracker Focuses On Demand

Douglas-Westwood has released its Subsea Cable Tracker, which identifies the vessel installation day demand and a breakdown of component type by region as well as considering global drivers and outlook, a press release stated.

Over the next five years Douglas-Westwood expects to see a significant increase in subsea cable demand, primarily driven by the strong growth in the offshore wind market. Douglas-Westwood has released the Subsea Cable Tracker to assist businesses in understanding this growth and the size and scope of opportunities that exist. The tracker details the subsea cable demand growth totaling 24,103 km (14,978 miles) over the 2017-2021 forecast period.
