Shannon (Shane) E. Young III will join Cobalt International Energy Inc. (CIE) as its CFO and executive vice president, the company said Aug. 25. He will replace John P. Wilkirson in the roles. Wilkirson is leaving to pursue other interests, the company added, noting that the appointment becomes effective Sept. 1.
Currently, Young is senior vice president and CFO at Talos Energy LLC. Wilkirson will remain a consultant to Cobalt through the end of October.
Joseph H. Bryant, Cobalt’s chairman and CEO, said that Young’s experience in capital markets, investment banking and M&A will be beneficial as the company continues growing.
Young has more than 20 years’ experience in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Salomon Brothers.
He has a bachelor’s of business administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s of business administration degree from Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business.
