Technip has clinched a major contract worth at least €500 million (US $559.2 million) to supply a network of flexible pipes for the deepwater Lula Alto field offshore Brazil.

It’s a huge contract for the French contractor, which was awarded the deal by Tupi BV, the consortium composed of Petrobras Netherland BV (PNBV, 65%), BG (25%) and Galp (10%), for the ongoing development of the presalt field in the Santos Basin.

Covering the supply of around 200 km of flexible pipes and associated equipment, including gas lift, gas and water injection, gas export and production lines, these high-tech lines will be designed to meet presalt challenges including a water depth of up to 2,500 m (8,202 ft) and high pressures.

Technip’s operating centre in Rio de Janeiro will perform the project management and engineering. The flexibles will be produced at the company’s manufacturing sites of Vitoria and Açu in Brazil. Delivery is scheduled to start in the second half of this year.
