A US $84 million deal has been signed between state-owned Mexican major Pemex E&P and GE Oil & Gas for the latter to supply and to install subsea wellheads for the company’s deep- water and ultra-deepwater drilling projects in the Gulf of Mexico.
This is GE’s largest agreement with Pemex for the supply of subsea high capacity wellheads. For this agreement, GE will supply SMS800 and DWHC 700 high capacity wellheads, similar to other products previously installed on several other GoM oil fields including Perdido, Lakach and Kunah.
Pemex is in the midst of a push into its deep and ultra-deep waters as it bids to replace its dwindling reserves from mature giant fields such as Cantarell. Wildcats such as Maximino and Trion in the Perdido fold-belt have indicated it could hold substantial reserves in these areas (see DI, 20 May 2013, page 1).
