Swiss-headquartered ABB has won a US $26m order to supply electrical power and propulsion systems for two new Ramform-design seismic vessels.

The two ships will be constructed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and delivered in 2015 to Norway’s Petroleum Geo-Services ASA (PGS). Mitsubishi chose ABB as the main supplier of the power and propulsion systems, with the shipyard already building two identical vessels based on a previous order placed in 2011, which will be ready for delivery in the first and fourth quarter of 2013 respectively.

The ‘Ramform Titan-class’ vessels are the newest generation of the Ramform series, and feature advanced 3D seismic data acquisition/analysis capability.
