Ceona has finalised an agreement with German shipyard Lloyd Werft for the construction of its new high-capacity vessel, the Ceona Amazon. With detailed design work well underway and major subcontracts placed already, work will now progress on the fabrication, construction, outfitting and commissioning of the vessel. Keel laying is planned for August this year. Fabrication of the hull will take place at Polish yard CRIST S.A. and the vessel will be outfitted at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven. The multifunctional construction and pipelay vessel is set to enter service in December 2014. The Ceona Amazon, based on a drillship design, is SPS compliant and equipped with a DP2 system. It will be especially well-suited for operations in remote and challenging locations, say Ceona, and be capable of laying rigid or flexible pipelines and umbilicals.
