Norway’s Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract by Technip of France to deliver umbilicals for Total’s deepwater Girassol Resources Initiative (GirRI) phase 2 development offshore Angola.

No contract value has been disclosed. Aker will deliver two dynamic power and control steel tube umbilicals, one dynamic power cable and ancillary equipment. The GirRI project is located in Block 17, 210 km west of Luanda and in a water depth of 1,300 m (4,265 ft).

The umbilicals will be manufactured at Aker’s facility in Moss, Norway with project management, design and engineering support from its office at Fornebu, Norway.

The contract has been booked as order intake in the first quarter of 2013.
