Seismic specialists Searcher Seismic and Seabird Exploration are acquiring a high-resolution 2D multiclient survey over an area linked to the frontier south-east Barents Sea.

The Snøspurv seismic survey offshore Norway will cover the Bjarmeland and Finnmark platforms, and also provide a critical link to the Barents area, which will shortly be opened up for exploration activity. The survey is being acquired by Seabird’s vessel Harrier Explorer.

The Snøspurv 2D survey follows on from Searcher’s successful Havspurv and Gulspurv surveys also acquired in the Barents Sea, and will use similar high-resolution acquisition and processing parameters.

The survey is being acquired in a phased approach so that delivery of data to participating clients can be optimized for exploration needs, it added. Phase 1 will create the definitive regional framework for Barents Sea Southeast exploration, followed by an infill phase that will focus on 23rd licensing round opportunities.

Data will be available for participating companies from 4Q 2013.
