A consortium operated by the Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) subsidiary, Chevron Energía de México, signed the license agreement with the National Commission of Hydrocarbons (CNH) for the contractual area AP-CS-G03 (Block 22) on May 7.
The consortium, which includes Pemex exploration and production and INPEX E&P Mexico, was awarded the rights to explore in Block 22 in tender 2.4 offered by the Mexican government on January 31, 2018.
Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, Secretary of Energy, Juan Carlos Zepeda Molina, President of the CNH, as well as other government representatives and directors of the companies that make up the consortium and executives of other companies attended the signing ceremony.
“Chevron is committed to exploring the potential of Mexico offshore,” Evelyn Vílchez, general director of Chevron Energía de México, said. “This block strengthens our partnership with Pemex and Inpex. We will continue supporting the development of the new energy model in Mexico.”
The signing of this contract represents a second block in Chevron’s portfolio in Mexico.
