Diamond Offshore Drilling received a contract to drill two operated wells in third-quarter 2017 for Azinor Catalyst Ltd., which explores the U.K. Continental Shelf (UKCS), a press release said May 5.

The Ocean Guardian semisubmersible rig will drill the wells, which will target the Partridge prospect and the Agar discovery and Plantain prospect, respectively.

Catalyst acquired full operated interest in blocks 14/11a, 14/12a and 14/16a, which contain the Partridge prospect, in December 2015.

The prospect’s pre-drill recoverable volumes were estimated at 119 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe), with upside of 260 MMboe. The prospect is in the Jura sub-basin of the Outer Moray Firth, adjacent to the Scapa, Claymore and Athena oil fields.

Partridge is a stratigraphic trap comprising deepwater mass flow sands of the Lower Cretaceous scapa sandstone member, the press release said.

Catalyst holds a 50% interest in blocks 9/9d and 9/14a, which contain Agar and Plantain. Catalyst made the Agar discovery in 2014 in high-quality Eocene Frigg Formation sands. Agar and Plantain are estimated to hold 60 MMboe, with upside of 98 MMboe, the press release said.

Located in the South Viking Graben, Agar and Plantain are east of Apache’s Beryl Field and west of Aker BP’s Alvheim hub.
