Erin Energy Corp. carried out a drilling services contract with Pacific Drilling to use the Pacific Bora rig to drill the Oyo-9 well in the deepwater Oyo Field offshore Nigeria, according to a March 6 press release.
Under the contract, Erin Energy could drill up to two additional wells, and the contract could be extended. The extension would be used to drill two prospects in the prolific Miocene geological zone offshore Nigeria.
The Pacific Bora, a sixth-generational double-hulled drillship, is currently in Nigeria. It should be mobilized to the Oyo Field and on site in June, and can be used for drilling and well completion, the press release said.
Erin Energy said the Oyo-9 could be spudded in mid-June, with first production in September. Oyo-9 could add an additional 6,000 barrels per day (Mbbl/d) to 7 Mbbl/d, the press release said.
Houston-based Erin Energy Corp. operates in sub-Saharan Africa.
