Fugro GEOS has been contracted by Statoil to provide current measurements for the construction planning of two export pipelines in the North Sea.

An oil pipeline will run from the Johan Sverdrup field to the Mongstad terminal onshore Norway, whilst a gas export pipeline from the same field will connect to Karstø.

A total of 17 current mooring measuring devices will be deployed in water depths ranging from 115-578 m (364-517 ft) to produce measurements over a period of 15 months, which together with post-service reports will allow Statoil to consider the most appropriate engineering design for the pipeline route.

Fugro is also providing current measurements for both the Johan Castberg field and the Aasta Hansteen deepwater spar development, also offshore Norway.
