Galp Energia’s exploration consortium has started drilling the Agulha-2 appraisal well in Area 4 in the Rovuma Basin offshore East Africa’s Mozambique to appraise the earlier Agulha-1 gas discovery announced last year.
The find was made in Paleocene and Cretaceous horizons in the south of the area, and a further exploration well is now expected in the second quarter, with the potential for another additional well, to explore prospects identified in new 3-D seismic data, namely the Duongo-1 prospect (previously known as Querimbas East 1).
