Jee Ltd. received a FEED contract for a jacket rigid polymer injection riser package from Amec Foster Wheeler, Jee said May 21. The package includes J-tubes, and is part of an EOR field development project.
The project will demonstrate polymer chemical injection technology’s role in maximizing economic recovery of U.K. hydrocarbon reserves. It is a new technique, the company added.
A new bridge-linked platform will store, mix and pump polymer. Amec will design the platform, which will tie into existing facilities. This year, Jee’s engineers will conduct the FEED as the first part of the project.
Jonathan McGregor, head of engineering at Jee, said the changing downhole environment is a challenge when injecting chemical agents into reservoir fluids.
The project will use 4-D seismic imaging, horizontal drilling and pump technology, all groundbreaking technologies, Aberdeen, Scotland-based Jee said.
Development drilling is expected to take place from 2015 until 2020.
